Abstract
Helena Maszczyńska (1930-2025)
The pianist and pedagogue from Silesia was born on February 24, 1930, and studied at the State Higher School of Music in Katowice under Professor Nadzieja Padlewska. After earning her degree, she devoted her life to teaching piano, working in music schools in Silesia, Podhale, and from 1973 at the State Music School in Wadowice. She was highly regarded for her sensitivity to sound, precision in playing, and ability to inspire a passion for music in her students, discovering and supporting young talents. She served as head of the piano department and ensured a high standard of teaching and the artistic quality of recitals. For her pedagogical work, she was awarded, among others, the Gold Cross of Merit and the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. She passed away on January 9, 2025, leaving a lasting impact on her students and Polish music education.
