Abstract
Outline of the History of the Agricultural School in Radocza
After the division of Antoni and Zofia Banasi’s estate in Radocza, a 23.45 ha property remained, including residential and farm buildings, arable land, an orchard, and vegetable plots. The farm featured a cowshed, stable, pigsty, workers’ houses, barns, and greenhouses. Flood-prone fields were later allocated for educational purposes. In 1946, the Agricultural Secondary School was established, later renamed the Municipal Agricultural School, with Jan Jarosz as its first director. Teaching focused on crop cultivation, animal husbandry, vocational subjects, and general education, with students managing plots and gardens.
From 1946 onward, various agricultural schools operated in Radocza, gradually expanding facilities, farm operations, and staff. They trained youth and adults in practical agriculture and machinery operation, and the school’s land eventually exceeded 200 ha.
In 1998, the Radocza Technical School became part of the Agricultural School Complex – Center for Continuing Education. In 1999, it was named after John Paul II, with the banner blessed by the Pope in Wadowice. In 2014, it was renamed the Complex of Schools – Center for Continuing Education of St. John Paul II. The school’s major development was driven by engineer Franciszek Gąsiorek, a longtime director and regional agricultural educator and activist, whose contributions were posthumously honored in 2014 during the school’s 40th anniversary.
